Chelsea target Sporting striker as Delap replacement

Chelsea are in talks with Sporting Lisbon over a deal to sign Conrad Harder. The West Londoners have moved for Harder after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham this weekend.

Delap is expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines and negotiations have begun with Sporting over a deal for the Denmark international.

The 20-year-old scored 11 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese side last season and Chelsea are keen to add Harder to their centre-forward options.

A deal could pave the way for Nicolas Jackson to leave, after Chelsea blocked the striker’s loan move to Bayern Munich as Jackson waited in Germany to finalise the move. Jackson remains keen to sign for Bayern if Chelsea can find an alternative solution.

Harder had previously been in talks with AC Milan and RB Leipzig over a potential transfer this summer. The former agreed a deal worth an initial €24m, rising to €27m including add-ons. However, the deal collapsed and Harder could now head to the Premier League.

Milan are now in talks with AS Roma over a potential swap deal involving Santiago Gimenez and Artem Dovbyk.
