Man Utd boss Michael Carrick was left perplexed after his side were denied a second penalty during the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on Friday night.
Amad Diallo was pushed down in the box in the second half, but referee Stuart Attwell waved play on. The Cherries went down the other end and equalised through Ryan Christie.
James Hill put the ball in his own net from a corner to reestablish United’s lead before Harry Maguire gave away a penalty with ten minutes remaining. The centre-back was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity after pushing over Evanilson in the area, and Eli Junior Kroupi converted from the spot.
Bruno Fernandes had opened the scoring with a penalty of his own on the hour mark after he was pulled down in the box. Carrick felt that the challenge on Amad should have been called a foul after the one on his captain was deemed a foul.

“We should have had another penalty,” he told Sky Sports. “Obviously, if you get one, you must get the other.
“It’s pretty much identical for me, two-hand grab. Either way, he’s got one wrong, but to give one and not give the other, I can’t get my head around it, I think it’s crazy.
“It’s a bit baffling, really. Because of that, they score and then it’s chaos after that, really.
“We should have had another penalty and the game would have been totally different.”

Man Utd are still well positioned to finish inside the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League despite the setback. They sit third in the table, six points ahead of third-placed Liverpool, who play Brighton on Saturday.
“We’re in a good place,” Carrick said. “We’ve put ourselves in this position through some good work, good results and good performances.
“We could have had more tonight but it’s not the end of the world.”
The interim head coach also highlighted the progress made under his management since replacing Ruben Amorim in January.
“I think we’ve made some improvements. There are things we can improve on, and we can get a lot better.
“I’m happy with the way things have gone, but we’re not satisfied. We definitely want more.”
