Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen – Match preview and team news

  • Date: Saturday, 11th April.
  • Kick-off: 2:30pm BST.
  • Venue: Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund team news

Niko Kovac faces a significant tactical reshuffle as Dortmund looks to solidify its second-place standing.

Forward Karim Adeyemi is suspended after picking up a milestone yellow card against Stuttgart. His pace on the counter-attack will be missed, likely forcing a shift in how Maximilian Beier and Julian Brandt support Serhou Guirassy.

The midfield remains depleted by the long-term loss of captain Emre Can, who is out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury.

Furthermore, Felix Nmecha continues his recovery from a knee injury and is unavailable for selection.

While young defender Filippo Mane has returned to light training, this match comes too soon for his competitive return.

The defensive burden will once again be carried by Waldemar Anton, Nico Schlotterbeck and Ramy Bensebaini to contain Leverkusen’s fluid movement.

Bayer Leverkusen team news

Kasper Hjulmand’s side travels to the Signal Iduna Park grappling with a growing injury list in defence.

Jarell Quansah is a major doubt following a thigh strain, adding to the woes of long-term absentees Arthur and Lucas Vazquez, who remain sidelined.

The attack is also hampered by the absence of Martin Terrier, who is out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury against Heidenheim.

On a positive note, Aleix Garcia is available after serving a suspension. He is expected to start alongside Exequiel Palacios.

Form

Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund is in peak form, currently on a four-match winning streak in the Bundesliga. They won the match 6-3 after coming back from behind twice in the match and finished the game strongly. They are currently in sixth position in the league with 49 points in 28 matches, trailing the fourth-placed VFB Stuttgart by four points.
