Barcelona reportedly have no intention of signing Mason Greenwood from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The English striker has been linked with La Blaugrana this week after Deco, the club’s sporting director, was spotted meeting with Man United football director John Murtough.
However, the Catalan outfit are “currently not working” on a deal to bring Greenwood to the Camp Nou, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 22-year-old has spent this season on loan with La Liga side Getafe, where he has registered six goals and five assists in 23 appearances since Man United announced he would not recommence his career at Old Trafford.
Greenwood has not played for the Red Devils since being arrested in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charges were subsequently dropped when key witnesses withdrew and there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose company INEOS have acquired a 25 percent stake in the club, has said that a “fresh decision” on Greenwood’s future at the end of the season.
Man United are reportedly willing to consider transfer proposals for the centre-forward.
