Bale set to demand Real pay up the remainder of his £600k per week contract

Gareth Bale is set to demand that parent club Real Madrid pay up the remainder of his staggering £600,000-a-week contract, with 12 months still left on his existing deal.

After a turbulent last few years at the Bernabeu, the Welshman made his much anticipated return to Tottenham in the summer, rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal after seven years away from the Premier League.

The 31-year-old endured an underwhelming first half of the season with the majority of his game time restricted to cup competitions, while he also looked way short of full fitness.

After featuring more regularly in recent weeks, however, Bale has looked much more impressive and has netted four times in his last four appearances in all competitions, including a brace in the recent 4-0 win over Burnley.

While it still remains to be seen if he can do enough to extend his stay at Spurs beyond this season, the Mirror are reporting that the winger is keen for Madrid to pay up the remainder of his current contract, no matter what happens.

The four-time Champions League winner will still have a year left on his deal when the season ends, yet his toxic relationship with boss Zinedine Zidane would suggest he won’t be playing for the La Liga side again, even if he doesn’t secure a permanent move to Spurs at the end of the current campaign.

That being said, with rumours over the Frenchman’s future at the helm after a disappointing campaign thus far, Bale’s future in Spain may not be finished just yet.

Even if he returns to the Spanish capital but does not play, the forward is reportedly demanding that his £600,000-a-week wage is still paid.

At present, his parent club are paying one half of his wages while Spurs are paying the other, a situation that could continue next season if Jose Mourinho and co wish to take him on loan for another year, with the chance to sign him for free in June 2022, when his contract runs out.

Equally, Bale could demand that Madrid fork out a significant pay off in order for him to join the north London club on a permanent deal at the end of the season.
