Diego Simeone is set to have Clement Lenglet available. Lenglet missed the win at PSV Eindhoven but has returned to training and is expected to be available for Valencia’s visit.
Johnny Cardoso, who picked up a hamstring injury during the defeat to Barcelona earlier this month, made his return to the bench in the Netherlands. There was no place in that travelling squad for Jose Gimenez, who has a hamstring problem.
Atletico will again lean heavily on Julian Alvarez, who scored his 11th goal of the season at PSV. The Argentine’s return of seven La Liga goals has been bettered by just four players this season.
