AS Roma are close to completing a deal for Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen according to reports in Spain.
SPORT claim that the Serie A club are close to sealing a €10million move for the former Arsenal centre back, who has struggled for game time at the Nou Camp, failing to displace the clubs main centre backs Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano.
The 30-year old will sign a three year deal in the Italian capital, worth around €3.5million-a-year.
Barcelona have already lined up a move for defensive reinforcements, after agreeing a deal with Lyon for Samuel Umtiti.
