Mikel Arteta has praised the “very, very positive” impact new signing Noni Madueke has had on Arsenal since signing from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The winger arrived from Stamford Bridge in July for an initial £48.5 million, which could rise to £52 million with add-ons.
Although Madueke is yet to score or assist for the Gunners, he has thus far looked dangerous on the right flank for his new club, particularly in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Arteta hails ‘very positive’ Arsenal summer signing Madueke
“I was sure that he was a player with quality and talent that we didn’t have in the squad,” Arteta said of the 23-year-old ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.
“He carries a threat and unpredictability that will make us better. So far, the impact he is having on the team is very, very positive.”
Another one of Arsenal‘s big buys, Eberechi Eze, is still settling into the team following his £67.5 million move from Crystal Palace.
The England international was signed following a serious injury to Kai Havertz, even though he is not a like-for-like replacement in terms of playing style.

A natural no.10, Eze can also be deployed on the left. Asked if he sees the 27-year-old as more of a touchline winger, Arteta answered: “No. It depends on what the game does. It’s one space or another.
“It’s never the same because it depends on what we want to accomplish with the space.
“The behaviour of the winger depends on who is behind him. Then there is the positioning of the attacking midfielder as well, whether they’re cutting deeper or not.
“There are many things to consider before making the decision.”
