Chelsea boss Sarri wanted by Roma after Conte turns them down

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly a target for Serie A side Roma.

The Blues boss hasn’t had the greatest of debut season’s in the Stamford Bridge dugout, although he has secured a place in next season’s Champions League and is still in with a shout of winning the Europa League.

However, his much-discussed ‘Sarri-ball’ brand of football hasn’t exactly been embraced by the Chelsea faithful at times this season, with Sarri’s side often looking profligate in front of goal.

Now, a report in the Telegraph claims that Sarri could be offered an escape route out of Stamford Bridge, with Roma thought to be keen on making a move for the 60-year-old.

Roma, currently being managed by Premier League winning manager Claudio Ranieri, are on the lookout for a new boss for next season, and had turned to former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, although reports have suggested that the 49-year-old has rejected a move to the Italian capital in the hope of receiving a better offer.

The Telegraph report that Roma could now turn their attention to the man who replaced Conte at Stamford Bridge, with Sarri said to be ‘open’ to a return to his homeland.

Conte meanwhile has been linked with moves to Juventus and Inter Milan.
