Steve Bruce tips Steel City derby to be ‘a classic’

Steve Bruce is looking forward to this weekend’s Steel City Derby and is tipping the encounter to be an absolute classic.

Bruce became just the second manager to have ever managed both Sheffield clubs when he arrived at Hillsborough earlier this month, and so far, he has an unbeaten record in charge of the Owls, winning three and drawing three.

The 58-year-old saw his Sheffield Wednesday side beat Brentford 2-0 on Tuesday evening, and he is now looking forward to their next fixture, a hotly anticipated derby against Sheffield United, with the Blades currently sitting in second in the table.

“This is the reason why I came back and off my holidays. It is what gets the juices flowing,” Bruce told the media following last nights win.

“He (Chris Wilder) has done a marvellous job [at Sheffield United] and I’m sure all the Wednesday fans will say that. They won’t like hearing me say it but he has done a grand job.

“It is a great game for the city. It should be a classic and let’s enjoy the spectacle.”
