Hazard reveals why it’s ‘strange’ playing as a striker

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard admits it is ‘strange’ to play as a striker after Maurizio Sarri used him in an unfamiliar role this weekend.

Having been deployed as a central forward, Hazard starred as Chelsea beat champions Manchester City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, assisting both goals in a vital win for the club.

Whilst admitting the role is one he enjoys Hazard, who has scored seven league goals this season, says his lack of involvement in the game is a bit ‘strange’.

“I like it, because I played it last year also, so I know what to do, but the feeling is a bit strange because you don’t touch the ball a lot,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

“You just need to focus on what you need to do and I tried to do my best, we won and that is what is important.”

Chelsea’s next fixture is a trip to face Hungarian side MOL Vidi in the Europa League before visiting Brighton at The Amex Stadium on Sunday.
