Morgan Rogers ‘open’ to Arsenal transfer as Villa stance revealed

Morgan Rogers is reportedly “open” to joining Arsenal from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

The attacking midfielder was one of Villa’s key performers this past year, registering 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions to help the club win the UEFA Europa League and finish fourth in the Premier League.

That has inevitably led to interest from other clubs, in particular Arsenal, who are looking to build on the success of this season after ending a 22-year wait for the title. Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the player.

According to Football.London, Rogers is “open” to signing for Arsenal, who are interested in both the England international and Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi.

Villa are braced for other clubs to make a move on their star player, but are “intent” on holding onto him, report The Athletic.

That does not mean the Midlands outfit won’t sell if the right offer comes along. While they “would love” to keep him for another season, they accept they may have to sell players to raise funds for new signings so that they can comply with the Premier League’s spending rules.

The report adds that Villa will set £100 million as the starting figure in negotiations over a deal for Rogers. Championship club Middlesbrough are due to receive 20 per cent of any future transfer fee after selling the 23-year-old to Villa for £15 million with performance-related add-ons in 2024.

Rogers still has five years left to run on his current contract.

The Premier League’s summer 2026 transfer window will officially open on Monday, 15th June and close on Tuesday, 1st September at 11pm BST.
