Brazil heads to North America for the FIFA World Cup this summer aiming to end a 24-year wait and claim a record-equalling sixth world title.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team had a turbulent road to qualification, with the Seleção’s previous head coach Dorival Júnior dismissed after a heavy 4-1 defeat to fierce rivals Argentina in Buenos Aires.
The Italian tactician was appointed in his place and, drawing on a wealth of experience accumulated across Europe’s biggest clubs, guided Brazil to confirm their place at the tournament with a victory over Paraguay in June 2025.
They ultimately finished fifth in the CONMEBOL standings — an underwhelming return by their standards, but enough to secure automatic qualification.
One of the most significant stories surrounding Brazil’s squad announcement has been the return of all-time top scorer Neymar, who makes the final 26-man selection at the age of 34, despite an extended spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Notable absences from Ancelotti’s selection include long-serving defender Thiago Silva, as well as Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus, and Rodrygo.
Despite the high-profile omissions, Brazil remain widely considered among the tournament favourites, boasting an attack spearheaded by the brilliant VinÃcius Júnior alongside Barcelona talisman Raphinha.
Brazil have been drawn in Group C at the tournament, where they will play Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
