Our Premier League Team of the Season for 2025/26

And just like that, another Premier League season has come to a close after all 20 teams played their final game of 2025/26 on Sunday.

Arsenal deservedly topped the table, ending a 22-year wait to lift the trophy – but how many of their players have made it into our best XI of the campaign?

Let’s find out.

Our Premier League Team of the Season for 2025/26:

GK: David Raya – Arsenal

Another outstanding year for David Raya, who pulled off some spectacular saves when Arsenal needed them most. The Spaniard picked up the Golden Gloves award for the third consecutive year after keeping 19 clean sheets in 37 starts.

RB: Jurrien Timber – Arsenal

It’s a real shame that Jurrien Timber missed the final two months of Arsenal’s charge towards the title through injury. Solid at the back and threatening going forward, his presence was sorely missed in that period, with their wobble coming right after he sustained a knee problem in mid-March. His potential return for next week’s Champions League final would clear a major selection headache for Mikel Arteta and improve their chances of victory against PSG.

CB: William Saliba – Arsenal

This might sound crazy, but I genuinely think William Saliba’s talent as a defender goes under the radar in the wider public. The France international is one of the best centre-backs in the game today; his football intelligence, reading of the game and ball-playing ability are top class, and make him a perfect foil for the next man in our lineup.

CB: Gabriel Magalhães – Arsenal

Gabriel is the perfect Arteta centre-back; he’s big, strong, good on the ball and one of the best headers in the game. The Brazilian was a constant threat from set pieces, scoring three goals this season.

LB: Nico O’Reilly – Man City

The emergence of Nico O’Reilly this season gave Manchester City a huge shot in the arm and helped them challenge for the Premier League title. The 21-year-old wouldn’t have expected to play such a big role this year, but he answered the call when Pep Guardiola needed someone to fill in for the injury Rayan Ait-Nouri.

O’Reilly ended up becominging their regular starter there, but he also excelled in his natural position in midfield, attacking the box with impeccable timing to score five goals in the Premier League. He also created three assists.

CM: Declan Rice – Arsenal

One of the very few players to be actually worth the £100m+ transfer fee their club paid for them, Declan Rice was right at the heart of Arsenal’s title win. The 27-year-old tries to bring a bit of everything to the team and he’s very good at all of it. Defending, attacking, passing, set pieces; he’s that rarest of commodities in the modern game, the all-round midfielder.

Arteta – Arsenal need to ‘go to the next level’ in Champions League final

CM: Moises Caicedo – Chelsea

This was the season when Moises Caicedo proved himself to be a world-class talent as the Ecuadorian took his game to the next level in a turbulent year for Chelsea. He doesn’t shield the defence like N’Golo Kante used to do so expertly, but he covers so much ground breaking up the opposition’s play. He made the second-most interceptions (57) this season, overtaken by James Garner (58) on the final day.

RW: Rayan Cherki – Man City

One of the best signings of the season, Rayan Cherki was able to translate his brilliant performances in Ligue 1 to the Premier League. He has been a creative machine for City, registering the second-most assists (12) and expected assists (8.56xA) in the top flight this term, as well as the seventh-most chances created (60). He also topped the division for open play assists (11).

CAM: Bruno Fernandes – Man Utd

Where would Manchester United be without Bruno Fernandes? The playmaker has almost single-handedly dragged the club out of the mire to qualify for the Champions League after a terrible first half of the season.

Fernandes’ single-mindedness helped write his name into the history books, breaking the record for most assists (21) in a single Premier League campaign, while he also chipped in with eight goals.

LW: Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth & Man City

Antoine Semenyo’s rise from non-league football to the Premier League is a remarkable one and his star only continues to grow. The winger, who can play right across the frontline, scored against Aston Villa on the final day to take his tally this year to 17.

10 of those goals came at Bournemouth before he moved to City in January, winning the first major trophies of his career in the League Cup and FA Cup, and becoming one of their most important attackers to keep them within touching distance of Arsenal until the final weeks.

CF: Erling Haaland – Man City

Once again, Erling Haaland proved he is the best pure striker in the world, scoring 27 goals in the league to claim his third Golden Boot award in four years. The Norwegian added another 11 goals in other competitions, although he will feel he could have found the net even more often.
