Michael Carrick offered Man United job as ‘talks underway’

Man United have reportedly made an offer to Michael Carrick to make him their new head coach with negotiations over a deal underway.

The 45-year-old has made a strong case to get the job permanently after winning 10 of his games in charge of the Red Devils this season.

Carrick was installed as interim head coach in January, replacing Ruben Amorim after the Portuguese was sacked. He has exceeded expectations by guiding United to UEFA Champions League qualification.

According to The Athletic, Man United have proposed an “initial offer” to Carrick to become the head coach on a two-year contract, with the option of an additional year.

“Talks are now underway” over the details of the deal and it is a “possibility” it could be resolved before United’s final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest, which takes place on Sunday, 17th May.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave the the proposal his backing after chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox recommended Carrick be given the job on a full-time basis in an executive committee meeting this week.
