Trent Alexander-Arnold has said Real Madrid ‘have to win’ the Champions League after the club’s statement win over Manchester City.
Real Madrid thrashed City 3-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Wednesday night, with Federico Valverde scoring a hat-trick.
The Spanish side are record 15-time winners of the Champions League and have lifted the trophy eight times since the turn of the century.
Alexander-Arnold, who won the competition with Liverpool in 2019, has said there can be ‘no excuses’ for Los Blancos in their pursuit of another European crown.
“We have to go and win the Champions League,” the right-back said to TNT Sports.
“When there’s so much hype about a game, playing for Real Madrid, there’s no excuses… we have to win, we have to win the competition. No matter who’s in front of us. We go for it.”
