Following the FA Cup fifth round action this weekend, we’ve picked out five players who stood out in their side’s successes.
Andy Robertson – Liverpool
Having come close to an exit in January, Robertson remained at Liverpool, and it has proven to be a wise decision. The Scot’s time at Anfield may come to an end in the summer, but he’s determined to conclude his decorated spell with more trophies.
Robertson was excellent in Friday’s win at Wolves, thumping in the opener for, perhaps, his best-ever goal in a red shirt. The left-back then turned provider with a perfect cross for Mohamed Salah to steer home in a decisive contribution.

Savinho – Manchester City
Another player who so nearly departed his current club this season, Savinho has spent much of the season on the fringes at Manchester City. He came in as part of 10 changes for Pep Guardiola at Newcastle and certainly staked his case for more minutes.
An electric performance saw Savinho go head-to-head with Lewis Hall in a fascinating battle, while his equaliser enabled the Citizens to turn around the tie at St James’ Park. If he can improve his end product, there’s a top talent there.

Daniel Peretz – Southampton
Southampton shut the door on Fulham at Craven Cottage, battling to an upset 1-0 win. Goalkeeper Daniel Peretz was pivotal to the success, with good stops from Joachim Andersen and Ryan Sessegnon among a string of saves.
The win continued an upturn from the Saints under Tonda Eckert, who now has a quarter-final to look forward to. The last time Southampton won the FA Cup was in 1976, when the club were a second-tier side. Could history repeat itself?
Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel – Port Vale
No shortage of heroes from Port Vale who pulled off a stunning FA Cup upset. The third-tier strugglers, bottom of League One after a torrid campaign, beat Premier League Sunderland 1-0 to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time in 72 years.
Among a long list of candidates for recognition was Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel. The right-back defender superbly, with five tackles, 9/12 ground duels won, and one crucial goal-line clearance.
Gabriel Gudmundsson – Leeds United
Leeds United came out on top in the Daniel Farke derby as the German got one over old employers, Norwich City. Gabriel Gudmundsson was the architect of the win, bringing his usual drive but with a fantastic end product.

Assisted Sean Longstaff’s lovely opener for Leeds and could have had more with some searching crosses into the area. The Swede then arrived in the box to convert from Daniel James’s cross for a goal of his own.
