Chelsea and Liverpool interested in Forest centre-back

Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo this summer.

The Premier League giants are the two teams working hardest on a potential deal for the defender, who could cost upwards of £50m.

Chelsea view Murillo as an ideal option to add to their ranks, given his potential, Premier League experience, and natural left foot. The Blues have been without Levi Colwill for much of the current campaign and have lacked balance in his absence.

Liverpool are also on the look out for centre-back signings, despite an agreed deal to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes. Ibrahima Konate’s deal is due to expire in the summer, while Virgil van Dijk will turn 35 in the summer. Joe Gomez has also attracted interest in recent windows.

TEAMtalk are reporting that interest in Murillo is already ‘strong and serious’. Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United have all monitored his performances, but it’s Chelsea and Liverpool whose interest is strongest at this stage.

Forest are aware of Murillo’s desire to play Champions League football but will demand a fee in excess of £50m for the Brazilian.

The 23-year-old signed a new deal last January, improving Forest’s negotiating position, but relegation could impact that. Forest are currently 17th in the Premier League and just three points above the drop zone.
