Mikel Arteta has admitted Arsenal have questioned themselves this week after losing to Manchester United last weekend.
Arsenal’s title bid suffered a blow after losing 3-2 to Manchester United at the Emirates. The late defeat was the club’s first loss at the Emirates this season and saw their lead in the Premier League cut to just four points.
Arsenal are three games without a win in the Premier League, ahead of facing Leeds United this weekend.
Speaking to the media ahead of that game, Arteta said his side have asked questions about themselves as they bid to bounce back.
“When you lose a game, you have a lot of feelings. This group of players are so competitive and seek excellence. When you don’t reach it, you ask yourself questions.
“My role is to bring optimism and reality of where we are. Our club has a long history, and to find a moment when in February we are in this position, is difficult to find. Guys, we are doing so many things so well, let’s focus on that.”
Arteta also provided an update on his squad and confirmed William Saliba and Jurrien Timber are available for the trip to Elland Road.
“They are ok. They have played a lot of minutes. It was a really good opportunity (against Kairat in the Champions League on Wednesday) to offload them.”
