Slot ‘expects’ Robertson to stay at Liverpool amid Spurs links

Arne Slot says he “expects” Andy Robertson to remain at Liverpool beyond the January transfer window despite being linked with moves to Spurs and Celtic.

The Reds and Tottenham have been engaged in talks over a potential £5 million deal, but the Merseyside outfit have reportedly decided not to push ahead with the move.

Robertson’s contract runs out in the summer, meaning he can agree a pre-contract with a foreign club and leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with Qarabag, Slot revealed that the 31-year-old will be in the matchday squad for the final league phase match.

“Robbo is part of the team tomorrow evening,” the Dutchman said. “He has been part of this squad for so many years.

“I am happy to have him and I am glad he is available because that is not normal for us right now. He will be part of the team and nothing is happening on this side.

“It’s hard to say anything definite in this world we are in but I expect him to stay.”
