Arteta drops Arsenal transfer hint following Inter Milan win

Mikel Arteta hinted at the need for Ethan Nwaneri to play elsewhere following Arsenal’s win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners maintained their unbeaten record in the competition with a 3-1 victory at the San Siro on Tuesday night, thanks to two goals from Gabriel Jesus and a late strike by Viktor Gyokeres.

“I’m very proud of the team,” Arteta told Amazon Prime after the final whistle. “We said before the game, we needed a special performance and we’ve certainly done that today. We went to another level and to do it at the San Siro against one of the best teams in Europe is something else.

“It was about trying to be better than them. They manage and control the games in a very good way, and we knew we would have to do that on the pitch and with subs.”

Nwaneri was an unused sub amid reports that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Marseille to send the winger on loan in the January transfer window.

Asked about the teenager’s potential move, Arteta responded: “I don’t know. We will have a discussion this week. He’s not having the minutes he needs and deserves at his age. We have to discuss how we want to move it forward.”
