Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have both made contact with the representatives of Xavi to gauge his interest in a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United are considering permanent replacements for Ruben Amorim, who left the club earlier this month. Michael Carrick has been placed in interim charge until the end of the campaign as a successor is sought.
Carrick began his tenure with a 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Manchester Derby on Saturday. The interim boss will hope to state his case for the permanent position, though all options are being explored.
Xavi has been named as a candidate, with the Spaniard having been out of work since leaving Barcelona in May 2024. The 45-year-old led the Catalans to the La Liga title in 2022-23 and previously won several honours with Qatari side Al Sadd.
Fichajes are reporting that Manchester United have made contact, though the Red Devils are not the only English club considering Xavi. Tottenham Hotspur have also sounded out the Spaniard as the North Londoners contemplate sacking Thomas Frank.
Spurs lost 2-1 at home to West Ham in the Premier League at the weekend and sit 14th in the table. Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou as manager in the summer but the ex-Brentford boss has struggled for results.
Spurs have decided to keep the Dane in charge for tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, but his longer-term future is uncertain.
