Rangers vs St. Mirren – Predicted lineup and team news

Rangers welcome St. Mirren to Ibrox Stadium on Tuesday evening in their final fixture of the 2025 calendar year.

St. Mirren arrive in Glasgow protecting an unbeaten December run, while Rangers aim to extend their strong sequence of results in the William Hill Scottish Premiership.

Danny Rohl’s side appears to have found their rhythm after a stuttering start to the campaign. The Gers responded to a 2-1 loss away to Hearts at Tynecastle by edging out Motherwell 1-0 at Ibrox on Saturday, with Thelo Aasgaard’s second-half tap‑in proving decisive. That victory lifted Rangers into third place in the table, where they now sit on 32 points from 18 league matches.

Rangers team news

Rangers received encouraging news on the fitness front with John Souttar returning to action following an eight‑game absence caused by a muscle problem. The Scotland defender’s return is viewed as a major boost to the Ibrox backline, and after being introduced as a late substitute against Motherwell, he is expected to be in contention for increased minutes versus St. Mirren.

Even so, Rohl must still cope without several important squad members. Bailey Rice, Oliver Antman, Nedim Bajrami and Rabbi Matondo remain sidelined as they work their way back from various muscle and knee injuries, with most of that group targeting early January for a return to competitive action.

At centre-back, Derek Cornelius is facing a longer rehabilitation period, with February widely cited as his likely comeback window, although some recent reports have suggested a possible return towards the end of January if his recovery continues to progress well. Midfielder Nasser Djiga is also unavailable for selection as he is currently on duty with Burkina Faso at the Africa Cup of Nations, further reducing Rohl’s options.
