Daniel Farke has said Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ‘one of the best strikers in this league’ after the Leeds forward netted for the sixth Premier League game in a row.
Calvert-Lewin continued his hot streak with a goal as Leeds battled to a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The result extended Leeds’ recent unbeaten run to five Premier League games, with the in-form Calvert-Lewin key to that run. The summer signing has now scored in six straight games and Farke believes Calvert-Lewin is as good as any forward in the league.
“He deserves all the praise. He is in record form and long may it continue,” Farke said to Sky Sports.
“It’s his job, he should score the goals, but I would also always back him to be there. I was not surprised by this run because for me he is one of the best strikers in this league and he shows this quality more or less in each and every game.”
Calvert-Lewin addressed his recent form at full-time, telling BBC Match of the Day that he feels in a goalscoring ‘flow’ right now.
“It’s always a good feeling to be scoring regularly. I’m in a good moment at the minute. My timing is good. As a team we’re gelling a bit more. Things are going well for us.
“You’re in flow. You can make those runs as a centre-forward and sometimes the ball doesn’t find you when you’re in a dry spell. But you’ve just got to keep doing it and hope that the tide will turn and that’s what has happened for me at the moment. I’m feeling good, feeling strong and I’m enjoying playing with the lads.”
