Arne Slot has confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai is a doubt for Liverpool’s trip to face Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.
Szoboszlai has picked up a muscular issue and will be assessed ahead of Saturday’s trip to North London.
The Hungary international has been in outstanding form for the Reds this season, and his absence would be a big blow to the Reds. Liverpool are aiming for a third consecutive win in all competitions after back-to-back wins over Inter Milan and Brighton. Victory at Spurs could take Slot’s side into the Champions League places.
Ahead of the game, Slot told his pre-match press conference that Cody Gakpo’s injury is not as bad as first feared. Joe Gomez is ruled out for Liverpool, however, while Mohamed Salah has departed to represent Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
“He [Cody Gakpo] had a scan that looked promising, so we’re not that worried anymore. He might come back earlier than expected, but definitely not tomorrow. Joe [Gomez] is not in the squad as well. Dominik [Szoboszlai] trained yesterday for the first time. We’ll see where he’s at today.”

Asked whether Szoboszlai, who trained on Thursday, could start at Tottenham, Slot added: “That completely depends on how well he does today and then we speak to the player and the medical staff.
“If the player feels comfortable and does all the things he needs to do, then he will start. Dom would be a starter tomorrow if he’s completely fit.”
