Brentford travel to Manchester City this evening with a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals up for grabs.
The Bees have never won a major tournament, but are into their fourth League Cup quarter-final since 2021. Keith Andrews’ side will need to cause an upset against the eight-time winners to progress, while Brentford are winless in three games.
City, in contrast, have won five consecutive games in all competitions with Pep Guardiola’s side in top form. The visitors are also unbeaten in the last five meetings between the teams, including a 1-0 win at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Premier League in October.

The West Londoners will need to cope without the influential Dango Ouattara, who has jetted off to the Africa Cup of Nations to represent Burkina Faso. Midfielder Frank Onyeka has also linked up with Nigeria for the tournament.
There’s better news on Kevin Schade, who is back from suspension and offers a natural replacement for Ouattara. Elsewhere, Antoni Milambo, Fabio Carvalho, Reiss Nelson and Josh Dasilva all remain sidelined for Brentford.
