Premier League clubs on alert as Guirassy release clause revealed

Serhou Guirassy could be headed to the Premier League next summer after details of his release clause were revealed by German media.

The striker has been in fantastic form since joining Borussia Dortmund from Vfb Stuttgart in 2024, registering 47 goals and 13 assists in 67 appearances.

Guirassy still has three years left to run on his contract, but there is a possibility he could be on the way out at the end of this season.

Serhou Guirassy release clause puts Premier League clubs on alert

The Guinea international was linked with a move this past summer, but no club activated his release clause. According to Sky Sport Deutschland, the clause is not valid in the winter transfer window, but will become active again in the summer.

It is claimed that the clause is set at €50 million (£43.8m), but it it only applies to a select few of Europe’s top clubs. Those are: Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid. Any other club looking to sign the forward will have to pay more than that.

It had previously been reported that the figure was somewhere between €60 to €75 million, but Guirassy will be cheaper next summer due to the “staggered clause”.

Guirassy is said to be “hungry for titles”, and if Dortmund are not competing for trophies then he may decide his future lies elsewhere. Saudi Arabia has been ruled out as a possible destination after he rejected a massive salary from Al Hilal in the summer.

Premier League clubs might think twice about spending a large fee on a striker who turns 30 in March. Newcastle United’s £55m purchase of Yoane Wissa, who is only seven months younger than Guirassy, serves as a cautionary tale; the centre-forward has not featured for the Magpies since his move from Brentford due to injury.
