Newcastle United XI vs Everton – Predicted lineup and team news

Newcastle United travel to Merseyside on Saturday looking to address their poor record on road.

The Magpies are one of only three teams yet to win away in the Premier League this season. In fact, their winless run on the road now stands at nine games, their longest such streak since 2017. Eddie Howe’s side will be desperate to avoid making unwanted history.

If they lose on Saturday, they could become only the fourth team in Premier League history to lose three consecutive away games after scoring the opening goal. However, they will take heart from their recent home victory over champions Manchester City.

Newcastle United team news

Eddie Howe plans to freshen up his attack for this weekend’s fixture. Specifically, he is expected to recall striker Nick Woltemade to the starting lineup. The summer signing started on the bench for the midweek Champions League trip to Marseille. However, he is now set to return and lead the line.

This change will likely shift Anthony Gordon to the right wing. Consequently, this accommodates the in-form Harvey Barnes on the left. Barnes has impressively scored three goals in his last two games.

In defence, Newcastle have suffered a significant blow. A hamstring injury has ruled out Kieran Trippier. Therefore, Tino Livramento is set to start at right-back. Meanwhile, Joelinton is available to anchor the midfield. However, the Brazilian remains on a disciplinary tightrope in Europe, sitting just one booking away from a Champions League ban.
