Arsenal face a nervous wait to discover the extend of an injury picked up by Gabriel Maghalaes on international duty.
Gabriel sustained a thigh issue during Brazil’s 2-0 friendly win over Senegal on Saturday. The centre-back limped out of the contest in the second half and will not travel to Lille to take part in Tuesday’s fixture against Tunisia.
Gabriel’s issue is a major concern for Arsenal, ahead of next Sunday’s North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
The Brazilian has been a crucial part of Arsenal’s start to the season, with the Gunners boasting the best defensive record in the division.
Arsenal recently equalled a 122-year-old club record with eight consecutive clean sheets across all competitions, a run that ended against Sunderland before the international break. Gabriel also ranks among the Premier League’s top performers for aerial duels won.
There is better news on Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian has withdrawn from international duty this month due to a hip injury. However, his withdrawal was a precautionary measure and he will be available for Sunday’s showdown with Spurs at the Emirates.
