Wales secured a nervy but vital 1-0 victory against Liechtenstein on Saturday evening, setting up a winner-takes-all World Cup qualifying showdown with North Macedonia in Cardiff on Tuesday.
Jordan James netted his first international goal, converting a Daniel James cutback just after the hour mark to finally break the deadlock. The crucial win, however, came at a significant cost. Karl Darlow – 6/10 A complete spectator. Liechtenstein failed to register a single shot on target, leaving Darlow with nothing to do but claim an effortless clean sheet.
Neco Williams – 7/10 Provided the one moment of true quality that unlocked the defence with his precise pass for the goal. His energy was constant, though he’ll be disappointed to have missed a headed chance.
Dylan Lawlor – 6/10 Yet another ideal and untroubled start in international football for the youngster. He was never tested defensively and showed calmness on the ball when building play.
Joe Rodon – 6/10 The senior figure in the backline. He was assured in his defensive duties and looked to be the main initiator of attacks with his confident passing from deep.

Ethan Ampadu – 6/10 The captain dictated the game’s tempo from his deep-lying role, recycling possession with ease. His night was ruined by a rash and unnecessary challenge that earned a costly suspension.
Sorba Thomas – 7/10 Continued his excellent run of form for his country. His deliveries from set-pieces were a constant threat, and he was a livewire on the wing.
Mark Harris – 6/10 A selfless performance. His relentless pressing and intelligent off-ball movement were commendable, but he was starved of any real goalscoring opportunities.
Nathan Broadhead – 7/10 Looked the most likely to find a breakthrough. He was unlucky to have a goal disallowed by VAR and showed great skill to beat the ‘keeper before narrowly missing from a tight angle.
