After a disastrous four-game losing streak in the league, the champions have bounced back well. First, they beat Aston Villa. Then, they secured a massive 1-0 midweek win over Real Madrid. Consequently, this is a vital match for the Reds.
A win would see them leapfrog City in the table. Furthermore, they are aiming for a third consecutive league win over City, a feat they last achieved in 2016. Arne Slot’s injury problems are slowly easing. For instance, striker Alexander Isak has returned to first-team training after a four-match absence. However, Slot has cautioned that Isak is not yet fully match-sharp. This means Hugo Ekitike is expected to lead the line again.

The attack will be spearheaded by Mohamed Salah. As usual, he will be a key man. He holds the Premier League record for the most goal involvements against Manchester City (15).
