Arne Slot has praised Jordan Henderson ahead of the Brentford midfielder’s first reunion with former club Liverpool.
Henderson will come up against Liverpool for the first time since leaving the club in 2023 this evening, having returned to the Premier League in the summer to sign for Brentford.
The 35-year-old made 492 appearances for the Reds during a 12-year stint at Anfield, captaining the club to a wealth of honours. Henderson led Liverpool to six trophies, including the 2019 Champions League and 2020 Premier League title.
The veteran had departed Liverpool before Slot’s arrival in 2024, but the Dutchman has outlined his respect for Henderson’s achievements.
“It’s just about bringing all of the experience I’ve had over my career and trying to help the team as much as possible” 💬

He said people ‘cannot stop talking about how much Ajax miss Henderson’ in his native Netherlands, after his decision to leave Amsterdam for Brentford in the summer.
“Although I haven’t worked with him, we are also going to face Jordan Henderson. In Holland they cannot stop talking about how much Ajax is missing Jordan Henderson, so that tells you how important he was for Ajax and how important he has been for Liverpool and how important he now is for Brentford.”
