Jack Grealish scored a late winner as Everton came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday.
Palace arrived at The Hill Dickinson Stadium on the back of a club-record unbeaten run, having gone 19 games without defeat in all competitions after victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
Oliver Glasner’s side made the better start on Merseyside and led through Daniel Munoz’s goal after 37 minutes. The Colombian rolled a low finish under Jordan Pickford to cap a flowing move from the visitors.
Everton were second best before the break but improved after the half-time interval to get back into the game. Having mustered an xG of just 0.04 over the first 45 minutes, Everton fired 12 shots on goal in the second half alone.
Their reward arrived on 74 minutes when Tim Iroegbunam was brought down in the box, with Iliman Ndiaye keeping his cool to convert from the spot/
Palace, who had missed several chances to double their lead, were then kicking themselves as their unbeaten run was ended in stoppage time. Beto’s header was well saved by Dean Henderson, but Munoz’s attempted clearance deflected in off Grealish for a fortuitous first Everton goal for the loanee.
The win continues a strong start to the season for David Moyes’s side, who climb to seventh in the Premier League table. Palace remain fifth, with the Premier League’s last unbeaten record ended this weekend.
