Liverpool reportedly do not plan on making another bid for Alexander Isak in the summer transfer window after Newcastle United rejected their opening offer.Â
The Reds submitted an official approach for the striker on Friday, tabling a bid of around £110 million plus add-ons.
Newcastle turned it down as they value their star player, who has three years left to run on his contract, at £150m.
Liverpool perform dramatic U-turn on Alexander Isak transfer
It was initially reported by multiple outlets that Liverpool would return with another bid to test the Magpies’ resolve, but that no longer appears to be the case.
Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook jointly report that the Merseyside outfit have “no plans” to “follow up with a second offer”.
Jacobs claims that Liverpool view the pursuit as “futile unless Newcastle change their stance and contact” them over a deal for the Sweden international. Crook added that Liverpool refuse to “get dragged into a cycle of rejected bids”.
Liverpool ECHO journalist Ian Doyle corroborated their reporting, posting that Liverpool won’t go back in for Isak “given the clarity of Newcastle’s swift and emphatic response” to their first bid.

Liverpool first approached Newcastle over a possible £120m deal for the 25-year-old last month. Isak subsequently told the club he wishes to explore his options and has not joined the rest of the squad on their pre-season tour of Asia. He is currently training with former club Real Sociedad in Spain.
The Athletic report that Newcastle have attempted to tie Isak down to new terms, which would have included a release clause next summer and made him the best paid player in the club’s history. But the centre-forward “has not changed his stance, which has been made clear to the club by Isak and his representatives for some time”.
