Tottenham have made an initial approach to Joao Palhinha’s representatives to discuss a deal for the Bayern Munich midfielder.
Palhinha joined Bayern from Fulham last summer but endured a difficult debut season in Germany.

Despite winning the Bundesliga title, he made just six starts in the Bundesliga and Bayern are open to his exit this summer.
Several Premier League teams have expressed interest in the Portugal international, who shone during his two seasons at Fulham.
Palhinha led the Premier League for tackles won in consecutive campaigns during his previous spell in England. Spurs now want to sign the 30-year-old to reinforce their midfield options.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Spurs have made an initial approach to the player’s camp, though no formal offer has yet been sent to Bayern.
It is believed the German champions would be prepared to accept an offer around half the £43.2m fee paid to sign Palhinha last summer.
A move to North London would provide Palhinha Champions League football and regular minutes, as he looks to assure his place in Portugal’s plans for next summer’s World Cup.
