Sunderland make bold bid to sign Polish goalkeeper

Sunderland have opened talks to with Nice over a deal to sign Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka.

Régis Le Bris has identified Bulka as Sunderland’s second signing of the summer, following the permanent capture of Enzo Le Fee from AS Roma. Bulka has just 12 months to run on his contract at Nice and could be available for a cut-price fee.

Manchester United, West Ham, Aston Villa and Turkish champions Galatasaray have all been linked with moves to sign Bulka, who previously spent time with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain as a youngster.

He broke into the Nice side in 2023/24 and led Ligue 1 for clean sheets (17), before helping the French side to Champions League qualification last season.

Last season, he ranked fourth in Ligue 1 for saves and led for save percentage (74.7%) in another impressive campaign.

Bulka could be available for a fee in the region of €15m to €20m (£12.7m to £17m) and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sunderland have started talks.

The Black Cats earned promotion back to the Premier League after a nine-year absence last season and are seeking top-tier quality in the summer window.
