Ruben Amorim tells Man United star to ‘find a new club’

Ruben Amorim has reportedly told Man United starlet Alejandro Garnacho to “find a new club” in the summer transfer window.

The Argentine winger cut a frustrated winger after the Europa League final, which the Red Devils lost to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. He was dropped for Mason Mount and only came on with 21 minutes to go in Bilbao.

The 20-year-old cast doubt on his Old Trafford future with his post-match comments, saying he will “see what happens” when the season concludes.

“It’s hard for everyone. The season was s***, both now losing the final tonight, and in the league, where we didn’t beat anyone, that’s the truth,” Garnacho told reporters.

“Up until the final, I’ve played every round, and today to play 20 minutes… I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens after.”

Garnacho, who joined the Man United academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020, has been told by Amorim that he is surplus to requirements, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

In January the youngster was linked with Chelsea and Napoli, who made an approach which was knocked back. At the time it was reported that Man United would be willing to sell homegrown players in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s final league game against Aston Villa, Amorim batted away questions about the uncertainty surrounding the futures of captain Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho.

“The focus now is the last game,” he said. “I don’t know what is going to happen. We have a plan, we were prepared for both situations – with Champions League and without Champions League.

“We have an idea of the type of squad we want but now we focus on the game because we still have the last game, and we have time to address all these situations.”

Ornstein also claims the Portuguese tactician has told the squad that he will stay on as manager next season after suggesting he could leave.

Following the Europa League final Amorim said he would walk away from the job without any compensation if the club and supporters no longer felt he was up to the task.

  1. i believe Ruben Amerim should be told to find a new club. All he has got on his mind is to play three at the back and he will never change that system. This do not and will not work in the premier league. Also our acadamy do not play that way so how are they going to play in the senior squad. Maybe our players are below average but under anyone else we would of not ended up in the league where we are now.
