After months of speculation surrounding the future of Ross Barkley, Ronald Koeman has admitted that he could stay at Everton.
The midfielder has been linked with a Goodison Park departure since the latter parts of last season, when he repeatedly refused the Blues’ contract offers.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, while Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be interested. However, no club are willing to pay Everton’s £50m asking price.
Koeman had said last month that he was 100% certain that Barkley would leave, but now has admitted that the midfielder could stay at the club beyond the summers transfer window:
“If there’s no interest he will be part of the team.
“He is training with Everton, he is part of the team and training in a good way.”
Spurs are reported to value the midfielder at around £15m, a long way short of Everton’s asking price.
