Our first update to the Power Rankings table since the international break features a new leader at the summit and a big fall for Inter Milan.
📈 Power Rankings: Chelsea crash in, Arsenal oust Bayern
10. Lens 🆕
Lens are the new leaders in Ligue 1 after a remarkable run of form. The French side have won eight of their last 10 in all competitions to overhaul Paris Saint-Germain in the title race.
Despite losing Kevin Danso, Neil El Aynaoui and Andy Diouf, Lens have invested wisely and look well placed to re-challenge the Parisian dominance of the division, after a runners-up finish in 2022/23.
If @RCLens can keep their place at the top of Ligue 1 this could be one of the stories of the season…😳🟡🔴

9. Atletico Madrid ⬇️ (last week: 5)
Atletico Madrid suffered a setback this week after losing their La Liga showdown with Barcelona. The Spanish champions proved too strong for Atleti, who have dropped six points off the title pace as a result.
8. PSV Eindhoven ⬆️ (last week: 10)
PSV are flooded with confidence right now and made it four wins on the spin after easing past FC Volendam at the weekend. Goals from Joey Veerman, Ricardo Pepi and Guus Til did the damage, with the latter having scored six times in his last four appearances.
7. Aston Villa ⬆️ (last week: 9)
Could Aston Villa challenge for the Premier League title? This weekend will tell us a lot. Unai Emery’s side have recovered from a poor start to surge into third and made it eight wins in nine games after back-to-back wins over Wolves and Brighton.
Next up are leaders Arsenal and the chance to reduce the gap to just three points. It’s a huge game in both side’s seasons.

6. PSG ⬇️ (last week: 3)
Is Paris Saint-Germain’s status as French football’s finest under genuine threat? As we roll into December, the Ligue 1 champions are yet to rediscover last season’s quadruple-winning level. Sure, there have been flashes, but injuries to key men have contributed to inconsistent results. Defeat to Monaco at the weekend saw Lens leapfrog them in the table.
5. Inter Milan ⬆️ (last week: 8)
How good is Serie A this season? There’s just a point between the top four, while ambitious Como, Bologna and seventh-placed Juventus are all within reach of the summit.
Inter Milan strengthen their trophy credentials this week, with comfortable wins over Pisa and Venezia in league and cup. Their 5-1 Coppa Italia thrashing of the latter emphasised the firepower that has made the Nerazzurri the leading scorers in Serie A this season.
4. Barcelona ⬆️ (last week: 7)
Five consecutive league wins, each with 3+ goals scored, have propelled Barcelona to the top of La Liga.
The champions have found their groove domestically and made a statement with a 3-1 win over challengers Atletico Madrid this week. After falling behind, Barca fought back to take the points through goals from Raphinha, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres. It followed a weekend win over Alaves by the same scoreline, with the in-form Olmo on target twice.
3. Real Madrid ⬆️ (last week: 4)
Just where would Real Madrid be without Kylian Mbappe?
A penalty earned Los Blancos a point at Girona at the weekend, before Mbappe’s double downed Athletic Bilbao in midweek. The Frenchman is the first player across Europe’s top five leagues to reach 25 goals in all competitions this season and rapidly chasing a second straight European Golden Shoe.
Two goals for Kylian Mbappé at Athletic Club.

The best player in the world right now?
2. Bayern Munich (No change)
Boasting an eight-point lead in the Bundesliga after just 12 games, Bayern Munich will be tough to catch from here.
An impressive week from the Bavarians included a league win over St Pauli, alongside DFB-Pokal progress at the expense of Union Berlin. Bayern have not won the German Cup since 2020 but an entertaining 3-2 in the capital keeps their hopes alive for the season.
1. Arsenal (No change)
Arsenal remain out in front in our Power Rankings table. The Gunners were perhaps disappointed to leave 10-man Chelsea with just a point at the weekend, but it’s an indication of the strides they’ve made.
In midweek, Arsenal beat Brentford to extend their lead at the top of the table, despite Arteta rotating his options. Even in the absence of several big names, Arsenal have enough to get over the line. It makes them genuine contenders both at home and in Europe.
