Wolves XI vs Chelsea – Predicted lineup and team news

Wolves travel to Stamford Bridge today in a state of crisis. The club is currently rock bottom of the Premier League, still winless after ten games.

Furthermore, they are now managerless after the sacking of Vítor Pereira. This dreadful run has seen them lose their last four league games, conceding 11 goals in the process. Interim bosses James Collins and Richard Walker face a monumental task.

Not only is the team’s confidence shattered, but they also have a terrible record at this ground. In fact, Wolves have won just one of their 11 Premier League visits to Stamford Bridge. In addition, history is against them, as every team to have two or fewer points at this stage of a season has gone on to be relegated.

Wolves team news

Wolves will be led by U21s head coach James Collins for their trip to Stamford Bridge, as he takes temporary charge of the first team. Collins has confirmed he is contending with a depleted squad. Specifically, he has two new injuries from the midweek cup match against Chelsea. Defender Matt Doherty has been ruled out with a knee injury. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Gomes is facing a long spell out after undergoing surgery on a groin problem.

Given the absences and his familiarity with the club’s emerging talent, Collins has hinted that he may promote several U21 players. He named Tawanda Chirewa, Mateus Mane, and Enzo Gonzalez as players who have trained with the senior group. He stated he trusts them to compete and they are in contention for a place in the matchday squad.
