Tottenham place £57m price tag on midfielder amid growing interest

Tottenham Hotspur have set an asking price of over £57M for Lucas Bergvall amid growing interest from Premier League rivals.

Aston Villa and Chelsea both enquired about the midfielder’s availability in January, but Spurs rejected all approaches.

The 20-year-old has seen his role reduced this season, while injuries have also limited his minutes. Bergvall has started just 10 games in the Premier League during the current campaign. Despite that, Spurs see the Swedish midfielder as a player of huge potential.

He joined the club from Djurgårdens for a fee of £8.5m in 2024, with Spurs reportedly beating competition from Barcelona to land the then-teenager.

The North Londoners are aware of growing interest in Bergvall, with Liverpool also among the club’s monitoring his situation. According to FotbollDirekt, Spurs would only consider offers in excess of £57m for Bergvall.

Tottenham’s hopes of retaining Bergvall could hinge on their run-in. Defeat to Arsenal on Sunday extended their winless run to nine games in the Premier League and leaves Spurs just four points above the relegation places. Spurs have not been relegated from the top flight for 49 years.
