Sheffield United meet Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane in the Championship on Monday night.
Chris Wilder faces his former team aiming to keep recent momentum going and lift the Blades clear of the relegation battle.
Wilder’s side are unbeaten in three league games, a run that includes a 3-1 upset of promotion-chasing Ipswich Town. Now, Sheffield United aim to overcome another of the division’s top teams as second-placed Middlesbrough visit this evening.
Sheffield United team news
Sheffield United will be unable to call upon the services of Tom Davies, Jamie Shackleton, or Jairo Riedewald for tonight’s tie. Sam McCallum is also expected to miss out for the Blades this evening.
Wilder’s squad has been boosted by the deadline day arrival of Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City.
The former Leeds midfielder is aiming to relaunch his career with Sheffield United after returning to Yorkshire, after a period in the wilderness at the Etihad. He’s likely to be phased into the side after not featuring for City this season. Phillips spent last season on loan at Ipswich in the Premier League.
