Manchester United make goalkeeper decision as fee agreed

Manchester United are pursuing a deal for Senne Lammens after reaching a full agreement with Royal Antwerp for the goalkeeper.

Lammens is currently travelling to Manchester to finalise his transfer to the Premier League before Monday’s 7pm deadline.

According to The Athletic, United will pay a fee of €21m (£18.1m) plus add-ons. No sell-on clause has been included as part of the package.

Personal terms between the 23-year-old and Manchester United are already agreed with Lammens set to sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Manchester United had been negotiating deals for Lammens and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez concurrently, though have now opted to pursue Lammens.

The Belgian is viewed as a long-term option for the Red Devils, who had made the signing of a goalkeeper their priority amid Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir’s unconvincing early-season performances.

Lammens won plaudits for his performances in Belgium last season, where the 6ft 4in shot-stopper led world football for saves and expected goals prevented in 2024/25. He saved four penalty kicks in the Belgian Pro League last season and earned a first international call-up in March.
