Ruben Neves ends Premier League speculation with new Al-Hilal contract

Ruben Neves has ended speculation linking the midfielder with a return to the Premier League after signing a new contract at Al-Hilal.

The Portugal international was a rumoured target for English clubs, as he approached the end of his deal in Saudi Arabia.

Neves’s contract was due to expire in the summer and he was free to negotiate with interested clubs as an upcoming free agent.

However, the 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a new three-and-a-half year contract with Al-Hilal that will run until 2029. Al-Hilal have announced the extension via their X account.

Arsenal and Manchester United had been among the teams credited with interest in Neves, who joined Al-Hilal from Wolves in a £47m deal in 2023.

He has made 121 appearances for Simone Inzaghi’s side in all competitions, scoring 19 goals, and has won the Saudi Pro League and King’s Cup during his time in the Middle East.
