Roy Keane has said he would like to see Diego Simeone replace Ruben Amorim if the latter is sacked as Manchester United head coach.
Amorim is under pressure to turn around results after a difficult 11 months at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager replaced Erik ten Hag in November 2024 but has won just 10 of his 34 Premier League games in charge.
Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe this week insisted Amorim would be given time, but the pressure has increased after defeat at Brentford before the international break.
5 – 50% of Ruben Amorim’s Premier League victories have come against newly promoted clubs (5/10), the highest ratio of any manager to win 10+ games. His win ratio against non-promoted clubs is just 18%, and Man Utd don’t face another promoted club until January. Trusted. pic.twitter.com/KXXcNa44A8

Former United captain Keane believes Amorim is a ‘dead man walking’ in the job and has named his ideal replacement.
He believes Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone would make an impact in Manchester, insisting the Argentine has the ‘personality’ and ‘track record’ to succeed in England.
“I’ve said it for years,” Keane said on The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast.
“I’d like to see, I’d like Atletico Madrid, Simeone [to] go in there. I’d like to see him go in there.
“I know his mate’s gone to Arsenal, but I think he would just create a havoc, but good havoc. I think he’d rock up to that place and say, ‘This is how you do things.’
“No guarantee, but I just like to see his personality, even his track record.”

This Amorim of a guy is destruction to Man utd, time will tell
Haha, Keanes certainly got the Hazard intensity for a new manager already! 😂 Simeone creating good havoc in Manchester sounds like a plan so wild it might just work, or end in chaos, which honestly sounds like a Keane-approved football match. Poor Ruben Amorim, winning more against promoted teams than Man Utd seems almost like a fairytale in the Premier League these days. Maybe he just needs a bit more time… or perhaps Simeone can just barge in and tell everyone how its done? At least with Simeone, we know the personality part is covered! Fingers crossed for less dead man walking talk and more goals soon! ⚽💥quay random
