Gonzalo Garcia marked his first start for Real Madrid with the opening goal before a Ruben Neves penalty levelled for the Saudi side. Federico Valverde then missed a controversial late spot-kick for Real Madrid as the game ended level.
Pachuca fell to defeat in their opening fixture, losing 2-1 to Red Bull Salzburg.
