Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and have an ‘advantage’ in the race to sign the defender.
Guehi is into the final season of his contract at Crystal Palace and will be available on a free transfer next summer. The England international agreed a move to Liverpool in the summer and underwent a medical with the Reds, but the transfer collapsed after Palace failed to sign a suitable replacement.
Liverpool remain interested in signing the 24-year-old as a free agent, but face competition from a number of European clubs.
Sky Sports are reporting that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are all keen on Guehi, with European teams able to approach the defender on a pre-contract agreement in January. Premier League teams are unable to do so, handing a potential ‘advantage’ to Guehi’s suitors on the continent.
Guehi captained Crystal Palace to FA Cup success last season, the club’s first-ever major trophy. He has established himself as a regular in the England set-up and could oppose a January move, as he looks to remain settled ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
