PSG team news

Luis Enrique faces a few injury concerns ahead of this fixture. Star forward Ousmane Dembele remains a major doubt after sustaining an injury during the Champions League clash against Monaco, being forced off in the 27th minute.

Quentin Ndjantou remains unavailable for several weeks due to a right thigh muscle injury. Fabian Ruiz is also sidelined due to a bruised knee and will not be involved in this match.

Senny Mayulu is also suffering from a calf issue and is most likely to sit out this game. The PSG boss also expressed frustration over his squad’s injury crisis, acknowledging that the defending champions are “suffering three or four injuries per game” which has limited his usual tactical rotation.

This unprecedented situation has compelled Enrique to rely heavily on a select group of players, raising concerns about potential fatigue as the title race intensifies.

January arrival and former Barcelona prospect Dro Fernandez could make his first start in midfield, with Vitinha likely to retain his place.

Metz team news

Benjamin Stambouli remains sidelined due to a broken rib and is expected back not before March.

Head coach Benoit Tavenot is expected to field the imposing Jonathan Fischer (1.98m) in goal for the visitors. The defensive unit could see changes with Gabonese international Urie-Michel Mboula and Sadibou Sane the preferred centre-back pairing in recent weeks, though former Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Terry Yegbe could provide alternatives.

In midfield, Boubacar Traoré is set to return, providing a boost in the absence of veteran Benjamin Stambouli.

Former Strasbourg midfielder Jessy Deminguet should partner the Malian international, while Alpha Toure could be preferred to 16-year-old Believe Munongo to complete the midfield trio.

Gauthier Hein, Metz’s captain and leading contributor with six goals and four assists in Ligue 1 this season, is expected on the right wing. Leading the line will be the experienced Habib Diallo, who has four goals this campaign.

Form

PSG

Luis Enrique’s side enters this fixture looking to bounce back from a damaging 3-1 defeat to Rennes last week, which allowed Lens to leapfrog them at the summit of Ligue 1. That loss was particularly concerning as PSG displayed signs of fragility not seen during their dominant 5-0 demolition of Marseille the previous weekend.

However, the capital club showed character in midweek, securing a crucial 2-3 Champions League victory away to Monaco.

Metz

Metz’s season has been a struggle from start to finish. Currently anchored to the bottom of Ligue 1 with just 13 points from 22 matches (W3, D4, L15), Les Grenats haven’t tasted victory in a league match since 9 November 2025. Their latest setback came in the form of a 1-3 home defeat to Auxerre.

Predicted lineups

PSG: Chevalier; Zaire-Emery, Zabarnyi, Beraldo, Hernandez; Fernandez, Vitinha, Kang-in; Doué, Ramos, Barcola

Metz: Fischer; Kouao, Sané, Mboula, Ballo-Touré; Traore, Deminguet; Alpha Toure, Hein, Tsitaishvili; Diallo
