Juventus will aim to conclude the 2025 calendar year with a strong performance against one of the bottom three teams in the league, thereby reducing the point gap with league leaders Inter Milan.
Pisa vs Juventus – Match preview and team news
- Date: Saturday, 27th December.
- Kick-off: 7:45pm BST.
- Venue: Arena Garibaldi – Stadion Romeo Anconetani, Pisa.
Pisa team news
Pisa boss Alberto Gilardino remains without the services of former Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury and will miss the chance to face his old club. Calvin Stengs is also unavailable due to an adductor problem.
On a positive note, Matteo Tramoni is expected to start after scoring a penalty in the 2-2 draw against Cagliari last weekend. Stefano Moreo, the club’s joint-top scorer with three goals, provided the crucial late equaliser in that match and might start in this match.
M’Bala Nzola, having also netted three times this season, is out on national duty at the Africa Cup of Nations with Angola. Ebenezer Akinsanmiro of Nigeria is also representing his country in Morocco in the same tournament, so neither is available for this match.
Juventus team news
Juventus are navigating a defensive crisis, with Daniele Rugani and Federico Gatti, both ruled out through injury. Juan Cabal is also sidelined with a thigh problem. However, midfielder Teun Koopmeiners returns from suspension and may be forced to deputise in central defence alongside Pierre Kalulu or Lloyd Kelly, as Luciano Spalletti looks to patch up his backline.
In attack, Dusan Vlahovic remains out of action, leaving a decision to be made between summer signings Jonathan David and Lois Openda for the lone striker role, although the latter seems to be the more preferred one right now.
Francisco Conceicao and Kenan Yildiz are expected to provide support from the wings but the former is listed as doubtful. Carlo Pinsoglio is also sidelined until early January.
Form
Pisa
Pisa have found life difficult upon their return to the top flight and currently sit 19th in the Serie A table. Alberto Gilardino’s side are winless in their last four matches, suffering successive 1-0 defeats to relegation rivals Parma and Lecce before salvaging a 2-2 draw away at Cagliari last time out.
Juventus
The Bianconeri have enjoyed a fine form since Luciano Spalletti’s appointment in late October, winning six of their last seven matches in all competitions. They come into this fixture fresh off a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Roma, where they showed character to secure three vital points.
Predicted lineups
Pisa: Semper; Canestrelli, Caracciolo, Bonfanti; Toure, Vural, Piccinini, Aebischer, Angori; Tramoni, Meister.
Juventus: Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly; McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Conceicao, Yildiz; Openda.
