Phil Foden struck late to secure a dramatic victory for Man City over Leeds United in “one of the wildest games” he has ever played in.
City were in total control in the first half at Eastlands after the attacker opened the scoring in the first minute of the game, guiding the ball over the head of goalkeeper Lucas Perri.
Pep Guardiola’s men appeared to be cruising towards all three points when Josip Gvardiol headed in from a corner to double their lead in the 25th minute.
But Leeds hit back with a vengeance after the interval as Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled one back. The striker then won a penalty after being taken down in the box by Gvardiol; Lukas Nmecha saw the resultant spot kick saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but tapped in the rebound to level matters.
City struggled to break down the visitors in the second half, but Foden eventually found an equaliser in stoppage time when fired the ball through a thicket of defenders.

“It’s up there as one of the wildest games. We had full control in the first half. They changed their system in the second half and we couldn’t get going.
“It was a frustrating half. But when there was a short break the manager got us together and we adapted to their formation. We had a few half chances and finally I’ve found a bit of space and found the bottom of the net.
“There are still things we can improve. We’re delighted with the result.”
The result takes City, at least temporarily, up to second place in the Premier League table and four points behind leaders Arsenal, who travel to face third-placed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
“The title race is never straightforward,” Foden added. “There’s always ups and downs and periods where you can’t seem to get going and we’ve had that.
“The belief and togetherness came through at the end.
“Hopefully that’s the case today that we can kick on from here. But you never know what to expect.
“I was so hungry today to play and prove to myself I could still score goals. I missed a few chances against Newcastle and wanted to put it right.”
